Melba Louise Cook, age 95, passed away peacefully at home on November 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 28, 1929, in Wheeler, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Arnold Frank Waldo and Olive Irene Waldo.
Melba, affectionately known as “Mammaw,” was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, and aunt. Above all, she cherished her role as a devoted child of God. Her deep love for her family and church community, particularly with The Church of God of Prophecy, defined her life. She was a faithful member of both Liberty Church of God of Prophecy and the Piney Church of God of Prophecy.
Mammaw enjoyed an array of activities that brought joy to her and her family. She loved sewing, singing, cooking, and playing spades. Many treasured memories were made as she swam with her children and grandchildren, sharing laughter and love. Melba also took great pride in teaching each of her children and grandchildren how to drive. Together with her late husband, Bill, she established their own business, which she ran until four years before her passing. Melba touched the lives of all who knew her and was cherished by many.
She is survived by her three sons, Jerry Cook and wife Karen, Kenneth Cook and wife Jessie, and Danny Cook; her brother Glen Waldo and wife Sondra; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one step great grandchild; along with numerous other loving family and friends.
Melba is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Bill Cook, her daughter-in-law Becky Cook, and her parents.
They would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hospice Plus for their loving care and support over the past three years.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Kevin Cook officiating. Melba will be laid to rest at Kilgore Memorial Gardens following the service.
