Montez B. Kain, a beloved homemaker and cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, at the remarkable age of 99. Born on January 4, 1926, Montez carried with her a legacy steeped in love and devotion to her family, who were her greatest treasure.
A proud graduate of Taylorsville High School, Montez dedicated her life to nurturing and raising her children with an abundance of care. She was a beacon of support and affection not only to her own children—Lawrence M. Kain of Kilgore, Laura Harden of Kilgore, and Lawrence Benjamin Kain and his wife Sherri of Arp—but also to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Chris Kain of Jefferson, Teresa Utzman and her husband Steve of Woodville, Katie Harris of Vermont, Carol Herden of Spring, Klay Kain of Arp, Kyle Kain and his wife Emma of Arp, and the precious great-grandchildren, Jack Kain, Draven Harden, Ella Kain, Andrew Kain, and a host of other loving family members. Montez's family-oriented spirit truly shined through in every aspect of her life, as she consistently placed their happiness above all else.
Montez was a pillar in her community, holding a long-standing membership at First Baptist Church of Kilgore and cultivated friendships that spanned decades. Her faith and commitment to her church were reflections of her generous heart, where she found joy in serving others and sharing in the vibrant tapestry of church life. Her demeanor was characterized by a tender touch, always nurturing the bonds of family while simultaneously embracing friends as part of her extended family.
In her free time, Montez expressed her creativity through flower gardening and sewing, hobbies that not only showcased her talents but also brought beauty into her life and the lives of those around her.
Montez is now reunited with her beloved husband, Lawrence D. Kain, her parents Buey Blakeney and Addie Mae Shelby Blakeney, and her siblings Mertis Kirkland, Shelby Blakeney, Ed Blakeney, Don "Buddy" Blakeney, and Betty Stringer. Their memories remain enshrined within the hearts of those she left behind.
A visitation will be held on March 10, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rader Funeral Home,501 401 N Martin St, Kilgore, TX. A graveside service to honor Montez's beautiful life will take place the following day, March 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Danville Cemetery in Kilgore, TX.
Montez B. Kain's enduring spirit and profound love for her family will forever be etched in their hearts, guiding them as they navigate life without her gentle presence. Her legacy of love, faith, and compassion continues to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
