Cremation arrangements for Mr. Charles Wimberley, 83, of Kilgore are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at two o’clock in the afternoon at First Presbyterian Church of Kilgore with Reverends Will Wilson, Johnathan Latham, and James Latham officiating. A visitation will be held from five until eight o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Rader Funeral Home. Mr. Wimberley completed his earthly journey on Monday, January 29, 2024, in Longview, Texas.
Charles was born on September 11, 1940, in Gilmer, Texas, to Guy Elwin Wimberley and Bonnie Faye Gage Wimberley. He was a proud Blue Devil graduate from Judson High School in 1959. Mr. Wimberley bravely served his country as a member of the United States Army. Charles was honorably discharged after two years of service. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Todd, on June 18, 1966. They shared fifty-seven years together. Charles was a born again Christian and enjoyed attending church at the First Presbyterian Church of Kilgore with his wife. Mr. Wimberley retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Longview after 39 years of employment. When Charles was not working, he enjoyed weekend trail rides and baking. Anyone that knows Charles knows the taste of his famous homemade pies. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Carolyn Sue Todd Wimberley of Kilgore; sons Larry Gene Wimberley of Big Sandy, Texas, David Brent Wimberley and wife Yvette of Big Sandy, Texas, Martin Eldon Wimberley of Kilgore and Todd Elwin Wimberley and wife Julie of Tracy, California; grandchildren Nissa, Audra, Charles, Julia, Matthew, Julianna, Zack, Cody, Gage, and John David. He also had eight great-grandchildren and numerous other loving friends and family members.
Charles was reunited with his parents Guy Elwin Wimberley and Bonnie Faye Wimberley, brothers Marion Wimberley and Carl Edward Wimberley and sister Sheron Horne.
