Mrs. Maria Rojas Barrera

Maria Rojas Barrera completed her earthly journey on June 4, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. A rosary will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore from six until eight o’clock in the evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at ten o'clock in the morning at Christ the King Catholic Church in Kilgore with Father Carlos Piedrahita as the Celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at Kilgore Memorial Garden.


Maria was born on March 11, 1960, in Huapango, Guanajuato, Mexico to Jose Concepción Rojas Rodriguez and Maria Rosario Serrano. She was one of eleven children. Maria experienced many challenges throughout her lifetime but one would never know due to her joyful demeanor. She took on every obstacle in life with a smile on her face. She was a resourceful and resilient woman.


Maria married the love of her life David H. Barrera on February 5th, 1977, and from that day forward they were joined at the hip. They shared 47 years of marriage, four children and numerous memories filled with joy and laughter together. Maria had a servant’s heart. She spent much of her time serving the Lord through giving back to others. David and Maria’s home was always open to those in need. She touched the lives of so many by her simple acts of kindness.


Maria cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a passion for gardening, often giving her plants pep talks while watering them daily and enjoyed getting her steps in while shopping at Walmart. Mrs. Barrera was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.


Left to cherish her memory are her father, Jose Concepcion Rojas Rodriguez; husband, David H. Barrera; children, Juan Carlos Barrera, Antonio “Tony” Barrera and wife Carrie, David Barrera and wife Karina, and Lorena Ana Barrera; siblings, Jose, Jesus, Adolfo, Salud, Elena, Guille, Chano, Viky, Rosy, and Conce; grandchildren, Parker, Mason, Emma, Nancy, Bella, Joseph, Jazmin, Xavi, Mia, Natalie, Julian, Santiago, and Lenin; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other loving family members.


Maria is now reunited with her mother Maria Rosario Serrano.

Maria Rojas Barrera completó su viaje terrenal el 4 de junio, de 2024 en Dallas, Texas, rodeada de su amada familia. Se llevará a cabo un rosario el lunes 10 de junio de 2024 en Rader Funeral Home en Kilgore desde las seis hasta las ocho de la tarde.La Misa de Cristiana sepultura se llevará a cabo el martes 11 de junio de 2024 a las diez de la mañana a las en la Iglesia Católica Cristo Rey en Kilgore con el Padre Carlos Piedrahita como Celebrante. El entierro se realizará inmediatamente en Kilgore Memorial Garden.

María experimentó muchos desafíos a lo largo de su vida, pero uno nunca lo sabría debido a su comportamiento alegre. Ella afrontó todos los obstáculos de la vida con una sonrisa en el rostro. Era una mujer ingeniosa y resistente. María se casó con el amor de su vida David H. Barrera el 5 de Febrero 1977 y desde ese día en adelante se unieron por la cadera. Compartieron 47 años de matrimonio, cuatro hijos y numerosos recuerdos llenos de alegría y risas juntos. María tenía un corazón de sirvienta. Pasó gran parte de su tiempo sirviendo al Señor y retribuyendo a los demás. La casa de David y María siempre estuvo abierta a los necesitados. Ella tocó las vidas de muchas personas con sus simples actos de bondad.


María disfrutaba pasar tiempo con su familia, especialmente con sus trece nietos. Le encantaba la jardinería y animar a cada una de sus plantas mientras las regaba todos los días, además de empezar a comprar en Walmart. La Sra. Barrera fue una dedicada esposa, madre, hermana, abuela, tía y amiga de muchos. Todos los que tuvieron el placer de conocerla la extrañaremos profundamente.


Quedan para atesorar su memoria su padre José Concepción Rojas Rodríguez; su esposo David H. Barrera; sus hijos Juan Carlos Barrera, Antonio “Tony” Barrera y su esposa Carrie, David Barrera y su esposa Karina, y Lorena Ana Barrera; hermanos José, Jesús, Adolfo, Salud, Elena, Guille, Chano, Viky, Rosy y Conce; nietos Parker, Mason, Emma, Nancy, Bella, Joseph, Jazmin, Xavi, Mia, Natalie, Julian, Santiago y Lenin; junto con numerosas sobrinas, sobrinos, amigos y otros familiares cariñosos. María se reencuentra con su madre María Rosario Serrano.
