Nancy Sue "Nana" Barton, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on February 26, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on April 4, 1951, in Dallas, Texas, Nancy's life was marked by dedication, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those around her.
Nancy devoted 40 years of her career to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, where her contributions were significant until her retirement in 2009. She was known for her professionalism and the positive impact she had on her colleagues and the operations of the bank.
An alumnus of Sunset High School, graduating in 1969, Nancy carried her love for learning and growth throughout her life. Her passion for community engagement was evident as an active and dedicated member of St. James on the Lake Episcopal Church, where she found both strength and fellowship among her church family. Nancy also dedicated her time volunteering at Friends of the Animals at Cedar Creek Lake, reflecting her deep compassion for all living beings.
In addition to her professional and volunteer work, Nancy enjoyed a rich tapestry of hobbies and interests. She loved traveling, playing golf, and cooking for her family and friends. Time spent with her granddaughters, Miss B and Gracie, brought her immense joy, as did the hours she devoted to working in her yard and tending to her flower beds. Nancy loved animals and took great pride and dedication with providing her dogs and cats a home, attention and unconditional love.
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years Marshall Barton; her son and daughter-in-law Kyle and Stacey Barton; sister and brother-in-law Mary "Sunny" and Paul Lasiter; and her cherished granddaughters, Bailee Nicole and Carter Grace Barton; niece Kim Rind; great nephew John Rind as well as many other loving family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Maurice Hanks and Alyne Caldwell Hanks; her sister Judy Turner; and her stepson Marshall Wayne Barton.
A Celebration of Life will be held in memory of Nancy on March 8, 2025, at St. James On the Lake Episcopal Church in Kemp, Texas. The service will begin at 11:00 AM, with a gathering to honor her remarkable spirit and the influence she had on those who knew and loved her.family
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Plus, her church family and all of their wonderful neighbors for their care and support during this time.
