Nancy Jane Reid Brooks

Services for Nancy Brooks, 82, of Kilgore, will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at two o’clock in the evening at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with burial immediately following at Danville Cemetery. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from one until two o’clock. Mrs. Brooks completed her earthly journey on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in Kilgore surrounded by her loving family.

Nancy was born on August 24, 1941, in Kilgore, Texas to the late Daisy Odell Terry Reid and Aron Franklin Reid. Nancy graduated from Kilgore High School as a proud member of the 1959 class. She continued her education at Kilgore College and obtained her associate’s degree. Nancy married the love of her life Don Allen Brooks on May 17, 1979. Nancy and Don just celebrated their 45th year of marriage. The pair shared countless joyful memories together, including attending First Baptist Church of Kilgore. Mrs. Brooks worked at Kilgore College as a secretary for eleven years. Nancy was also a longtime Mary Kay consultant since 2002. In her free time, you could find Mrs. Brooks travelling, camping, fishing, and spending quality time with friends and family. Nancy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She will be deeply missed.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents A.F. and Daisy Reid and sister Martha Ballard.

She is survived by her husband Don Brooks of Kilgore, sons Robert Gleason of Austin, Texas, and Chris Gleason of Austin, Texas. Stepchildren Darwin Brooks of Allen, Texas, Tanya McMullen of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Sherry Phillips of Longview, Texas. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
