Richard Kimball

Richard D. Kimball, 79, of Kilgore, passed away on April 28, 2019 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Kilgore, TX. Arrangements will be made by Rader Funeral Home. Rev. Ben Bagley will be officiating.

Richard Dana Kimball was born in Plainfield, New Jersey on January 14, 1940. He attended elementary school in Marshall, TX and then his family moved to Kilgore when he was in 7th grade. He graduated from Kilgore High School, Class of 1957. He attended Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, TX and also attended Stephen F. Austin State University and studied Business\Economics. After college he served in the United States Air Force Reserves for a short period. He worked as a florist and was the owner of Kilgore Flower Shop for many years. He later worked as a custom designer for floral and horticultural printing sales with The John Henry Company. He was first married to Janie Brashears Kimball Sweeney, mother of his daughters in Kilgore in 1964. He later married Kathleen “Kaki” Quarles Kimball in 2007. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors, kayaking, architecture and horticulture. Richard was a member of various Allied Florist Associations including a lifetime membership in Houston Allied Florist Association. He was previously a member of the St. Lukes United Methodist Choir. He relished building and remodeling his home in Kilgore with Kaki while customizing every nautical nook and cranny possible!

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Laurence and Barbara Kimball, brother Charles
“Warren” Kimball and wife Kathleen Quarles Kimball.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters Dr. Laura Elizabeth Kimball Ravari, husband Siavosh Ravari and Amanda Jane Eckert , husband Justin Jay “JJ” Eckert.
Sister, Dr. Jeannie Johns of Cleveland. Grandchildren Ary and Arman Ravari, Abby, Elijah and McKinley Eckert. Many nieces and nephews including Bobby and Charles Miller, Amy Callahan, Karin Hudson, David Johns and their spouses and children.
Bonus family with daughters and son-in-laws Kathryn and Randy Gartz, Tiara and John McClay, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Other special people in his life, brother and sister-in-laws Sandy and Linda Cundiff, Connie Douty and late Walter Douty and many dear family members and lifelong friends.

Memorials may be given to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
The family of Richard Kimball wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all of the doctors over the last 5 years that have treated his illnesses including Dr. Joe Tynes, Dr. Michael Walton, Dr. Byron Wadley, Dr. Edward Clark and the entire staff at UT Southwestern University Zale Lipshy Hospital in Dallas, TX.
