Richard Lynn Roberts

Richard (Ricky) Lynn Roberts passed away December 16, 2020 in Gladewater, TX. He was 68 years old. Ricky was born January 8, 1952 in Pittsburg, TX to Ray R. Roberts and Sarah V. Roberts (née Lindsay). His maternal grandparents were Olen and Lissie Douglas Lindsey of Wills Point, and his paternal grandparents were Fenton F. and Mary O. Roberts also from Wills Point. Ricky was raised in Wills Point and graduated from Wills Point High School. He attended Tyler Junior College on a tennis scholarship and then transferred to East Texas State University. He worked many jobs early on before landing in the water treatment profession. Ricky spent over 35 years in water treatment between the City of Terrell and Cash Water Supply. Ricky was a lifelong member of Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point. He loved to fish, play tennis, play piano, sing, and was always a big part of whatever was going on in his kid’s lives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Malia Roberts (née Ashley), and his sister Linda Dean.

He is survived by brother, Larry Roberts and wife Shirley of Houston, brother-in-law, Bill Dean of Tyler, son, Doug Roberts and wife Cassie of Gladewater, son, Ryan Roberts and wife Lindsay of Spring, daughter, Mistie Barrera and husband Brian of Rockwall, and son, Sean Babcock and wife Carmen of Abilene; along with 7 grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore.
