Rick Schatz

Funeral services for Rick Schatz, 71, of Canyon Lake, Texas will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Reverend Kerry Henry officiating. Burial will follow at the Danville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday before services from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Lane Schatz, Kyler Evans, Ethan Schatz, Jace Evans, Jaydon Ott, Logan Evans, Bodie Romero, and Karsen Evans.

 Rick is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathie, daughter Camie (Tom) Romero, son Dustin Schatz, brother Berle (Sherry) Schatz, Page Parker, Doreene Reynolds, eleven grandchildren, and his caregiver Lauren. He was preceded in death by his son, Kris, and grandson Jorgen Romero. 

 Rick retired as the San Antonio Production Manager after 43 years with EOG Resources. He enjoyed his work and was blessed with innumerable wonderful colleagues. 

 His favorite times were being with family, especially while smoking brisket and ribs. He enjoyed his muscle cars, especially the Pontiac LeMans he bought in high school and had rebuilt twice. Rick was the type of guy who maintained friendships from his high school days in Underwood, ND and from the various towns where he worked, including Vernal, UT, Carlsbad, NM, the Longview, Carthage, Kilgore area, and San Antonio. Rick’s passing will leave a void for many who enjoyed his laughter, sense of humor and love of life.
