Roger Dale Cox

Services for Roger Dale Cox, 66, of Kilgore will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at three o’clock in the afternoon at Pirtle Cemetery pavilion with Dr. Jody Clements officiating. The family will welcome family and friends one hour prior to the service for visitation. Interment will immediately follow the service at Pirtle Cemetery. Roger completed his earthly journey on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in Kilgore.

Roger was born on October 4, 1956, in Kilgore to Donald Franklin Cox and Peggy Ruth Bamburg Cox. After graduating high school from Kilgore Independent School District, he began his career working with his father at Little C Contractors and ended his career working as a heavy equipment operator for Rusk County. He married the love of his life Amanda Deon Davis and they shared 41years of marriage and two children together. Roger adored his family and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He spent most of his time outdoors; whether that meant camping, hunting, fishing, or working the hay field. Roger had a nickname for everyone and never met a stranger, he often referred to himself as the “Mayor of Monroe”. He was truly a people person. Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish Roger’s memory are his wife Deon Cox of Kilgore, daughter Laci Cox Bryson and husband Karl of Longview, son Dustin Cox and wife Micha of Kilgore, grandchildren Matt Bryson of Longview, Jace Bryson of Longview, Anna Cox of Kilgore, and Everett Cox of Kilgore, niece Mandy Griffin Beddingfield and spouse Casey of Kilgore, nephew Matthew Bryan Bateman of Kilgore, father, Donald Franklin Cox of Kilgore sister Donna Ruth Cox of Kilgore, and numerous great nieces, nephews, and other loving friends and family.

Preceded in death by mother Peggy Ruth Cox.
