Ronald Eugene McWhirt

Ronald Eugene McWhirt, 79, passed peacefully from this life during the early morning hours of February 20, 2022, after complications from a stroke. Ron was born on August 7, 1942, in Parsons, Kansas to Albert and Carlene McWhirt. He spent four years in the Air Force in his early twenties before he met and married his wife Myra in 1967. Ronald and Myra were married for 55 years at the time of his death. Ron was the loading crew supervisor at The Made-Rite Company in Longview Texas for many years and retired from there in 2004. In addition to his wife Myra, he is also survived by his daughter, Sherrill Ballard and her husband, Brian, of Gilmer Texas; daughter Delora McWhirt of Kilgore, Texas; granddaughter Amber Watson and husband Cody of Gilmer, and grandson Hunter Ballard, also of Gilmer.

Ron loved his family, but he also loved his feisty Pomeranian and never tired of taking him on walks to feed the ducks at Synergy Park in Kilgore. He will be sorely missed by his family, his dog, and the ducks!

At his request, there will not be a funeral, but the family would like to honor him with a Celebration of Life at the home of Brian and Sherrill Ballard at 4479 US Highway 271 South, Gilmer, TX on Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
