Sammy A. Fleming

Memorial graveside service for Mr. Sammy Fleming, 69, of Gilmer will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2024, at the LaGrone Chapel Cemetery with Reverend George Stevens officiating. Sammy passed away in Longview on Friday, June 21, 2024. Services and cremation are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.

Sammy was born on September 28, 1954, in Longview. He was the son of the late Earnest and Lela Ponder Fleming. Sammy graduated from Hallsville High School and served his country in the Army National Guard. He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator. Sammy loved his family and spending time at his home in Gilmer.

Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Earnest Fleming, Jr, and Tommy Fleming; sister, Linda McGrede.

Sammy is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sheri Poulter Fleming of Gilmer; children, Brian Fleming and wife Kristy of Henderson, Michelle Brisby and husband Steven of Pritchett, and Misty Robertson and husband Chris of New London; step-children, Ricky Patterson and wife Susan of Hallsville, Karen Green and husband Todd of Winona, and Brandon Deaton and wife Heather of Hallsville; sister, Nancy Layman of Denton; grandchildren, Finley Fleming, Karis Lee, Christopher Drenna, Lyla Brisby, River Brisby, Christopher Robertson, Kodi Robertson, Katlyn Robertson, Chrissy Cole (Noah), Ali Patterson, Dylan Moore (Audra), Mathew McGuire(Shelby Cravens), Railey Horneman (Mason), Hailey Deaton, and Makayla Deaton; great-grandsons, Morgan McGuire and Owen Moore; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
