Sharon Peek Schoenenmann

Services for Sharon Peek Schoenemann 72, of McKinney will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Reverend Neil White officiating. Sharon Rhea Schoenemann of McKinney, TX passed away on January 25, 2021 after a lengthy illness.
She was born December 13, 1948 to Jo Ann and Robert Sherwood Peek of Kilgore, TX. After graduating from Kilgore High School, she attended Stephen F. Austin State University and while at Stephen F. Austin, she married Randal Doak Schoenemann in 1969. She and Doak later moved to Austin TX where Sharon worked for Brown School and helped put Doak through University of Texas at Austin. She also worked as a legal secretary as well as building a career with IBM before retiring in 1991. Through the years, Sharon and Doak lived and worked in Houston TX, Laguna Hills CA, Fairfield CT, Dallas, TX and eventually retired to Maui HI. When Sharon was diagnosed with cancer, they returned to McKinney for better medical care. During Sharon’s life, she enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, doing charity work with Bee’s Kids, traveling and being involved in the Prayer Shawl Ministry at Kihei Lutheran Church in Maui. Sharon also loved paddle boarding and doing water aerobics in the Pacific.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jo Ann and Robert Sherwood Peek.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Doak Schoenemann of McKinney, her sister Jan Hattaway and husband Milton of Kilgore, TX. her brother Robert Peek and wife Angele of Baton Rouge, LA. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Trey Hattaway and wife Jennifer, Jeffery Hattaway and wife Lee, Mendy Hattaway, Kathleen Evans and husband Phil, Annie France and husband Jack, Robert Peek lll, Ella Jane Peek, Christopher Hattaway, Matthew Hattaway, Abby Hattaway, Thomas Hattaway, Theodore France and Joseph France.
In lieu of flowers, Sharon has requested that donations may be sent to Jo Ann Brooks Peek Rangerette Memorial Scholarship Fund, Kilgore College, 1101 Broadway, Kilgore, Tx 75662 or Prayer Shawl Ministry, Kihei Lutheran Church, 220 Moe Place, Kihei, Hi 96753.
