Cremation arrangements for Shirley Ann Yaw, 75, of Kilgore, are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Shirley completed her earthly journey on Thursday, June 9, 2022, in her home surrounded by her loving family following a very courageous battle with cancer.

Shirley was born on November 23, 2946, in Kempner to Robert E. and Earline Lee. Shirley worked as a waitress for all of her career. She worked for the Community Inn in Kilgore for many years and then she went to work for McKay’s Ranch in Kilgore. Shirley enjoyed feeding squirrels and birds, going to Whataburger and the casino boats, listening to old country music and watching Wheel of Fortune and the news. Shirley’s family, especially her grandbabies, were the source of her strength and spending time with them was when she was happiest.

Shirley was reunited with her parents, husband Donn Yaw, son Jim Ryan, Jr., sister Katie Denmon, brothers Robert Lee and Mike Lee.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Shelia Hooks of Kilgore, Donna Headley (Dee) of Kilgore, Gary Ryan (Martha) of Gladewater; grandchildren, Todd Hooks (Kimber) of Marshall, Jeremy Hooks (Cheyann) of Corpus Christi, Mindi Smith (Jerry) of Kilgore, Amber Ryan of Kilgore, Felisha Dickenson of Kilgore, Cortnee McMillian (Eric) of Gladewater, Matthew Ryan (Bryanna) of Gladewater, Kelly Waits of Overton, Justin Ryan (Chrissy) of Flint, Jonathon Ryan (Kimberly) of Kilgore; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara McFadden of Kilgore, Melba Bransfield of Kilgore and Laura Strand of Leverett’s Chapel. Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other loving family members.
