Shirley King, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend was called home on September 27, 2024, in Kilgore, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 7, 1939, in Avinger, Texas, Shirley lived a life filled with warmth, laughter, and unparalleled love.

Shirley was a proud graduate of White Oak High School, where her spirit shone through as a cheerleader and talented basketball player. Following her education, she dedicated her career to serving as an office secretary at multiple local banks, where her remarkable work ethic and cheerful demeanor endeared her to many.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Shirley will forever cherish the precious memories she created. From her joyful dancing in the kitchen to her beautiful singing, Shirley brought light and happiness into the lives of everyone around her. Each meal she prepared was a testament to her love for her family, a reflection of the care she poured into every dish, creating not just food, but cherished moments spent together at the dining table.

Shirley was known for her vibrant personality, shining brightly from the inside out. She had a special love for all things sparkly, a fitting symbol of her vivacious spirit and zest for life. As a devoted mother to Larry, Jody, and Danny King, she cultivated an environment filled with love and support, ensuring that her three sons always knew they were cherished. Shirley embraced her daughters-in-law, Lisa, Angela, and Elizabeth with open arms, nurturing a close-knit family bound by love.

As a grandmother, Shirley’s heart expanded further still. Her granddaughter, Calleigh King, brought immense joy to her life, and the bond they shared was a testament to her unwavering commitment to family. It is in these cherished relationships that Shirley’s legacy will continue to live on.

Though she was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie King, along with her parents, Harle and Leona Rogers, and her four siblings, Shirley’s love and exuberance for life will forever resonate in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her peaceful passing, enveloped by the love of her family, speaks to the beautiful life she led and the profound impact she had on everyone who crossed her path.

As friends and family gather to honor her life, a graveside service will be held at White Oak Cemetery in White Oak, Texas on October 3, 2024, at eleven o’clock in the morning.

Shirley's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the support and care she received during her final days from Accent Health Hospice. They extend a special thank you to Nurse Kayla White whose exceptional dedication brought comfort and kindness to their mother. Additionally, they are thankful to Chaplain Carol Gilbert for her compassionate presence, offering solace and support during this difficult time.

Shirley King will always be remembered not just for her roles as a mother, grandmother, and friend, but for the radiant love she so freely gave.
