SMITH EUGENE “TACK” NICHOLS, JR.

Services at the graveside for Smith Eugene "Tack" Nichols, Jr. 63, of Kilgore, will be held at 2 pm on Friday, January 3, 2020, in the Danville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 until 7. Tack completed his earthly journey in his home on Friday, December 27, 2019.

Tack was born on June 4, 1956, in Gladewater to Smith Eugene Nichols, Sr and Opal Nichols. He graduated from Kilgore High School in 1975. Eugene worked as hot shot driver and a construction worker. Tack enjoyed landscaping, vegetable gardening, riding four wheelers and participating in any activity that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were participants in. His family was the source of his strength and spending time with them, especially his grand and great-grandchildren was when he was happiest.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Smith Eugene Nichols III of Kilgore; grandchildren, Lauren Mitchell and her husband Deonte’ of Longview, Colin Nichols of Kilgore; great-grandchildren Emma Mitchell an d Kynlynn Mitchell both of Longview; siblings, Jeanie Maples and her husband Keith of Kilgore, Beth Ann Nichols of Washington; and step-father, Frank Bingham of Diana. Also, left to carry on his legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other loving family members.

Preceding Tack in death was his parents, grandparents, Earnest and Bea Bradberry, Jerome and Mae Nichols along with a niece Brittnie Bingham.
