Sue Brogden Housley

Graveside services for Sue Housley, 74, of Kilgore will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Danville Cemetery with Pastor Josh Howington officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mrs. Housley passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at her residence in Kilgore.


Mrs. Housley was born on August 30, 1949, in El Dorado, Arkansas to Jim E. Brogden and Ruth Benefield. Sue was a longtime member of Faith Baptist Church in Kilgore and was a homemaker. Mrs. Housley cherished her family and was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and soon-to-be great grandmother who will be missed by all that knew her. She had a love of gardening and couldn’t wait to be on the lake fishing. She loved her church family and was so thankful the Lord brought them to Faith Baptist. Her Pastor and his family held a dear place in her heart.


Sue was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Linda Ruth Brogden.


She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Darrell Housley of Kilgore; daughter, Kimberly Smotherman and husband Chad of Tyler, son, Jim Housley and wife Kim of Lufkin, grandchildren, Reed Housley and wife Emily, Kaelyn Thrift and husband Benjamin, James Housley and Ruth Housley and numerous other loving family members.
