Teresa Gail Briggs Flournoy, born on June 15, 1959, in Naples, Texas, she took her first breath in Glory on February 27, 2025, at her residence in Overton, Texas. A long-time resident of the Kilgore/Overton area since moving there in 1981, Teresa had a profound impact on those around her and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
For many years, Teresa worked as a nurse's aid and she was known for her kindness and the warmth she extended to everyone she met.
Teresa had a deep passion for music; she was an avid guitar player and enjoyed singing. Her love for animals was evident through her affection for her cats and dogs, reflecting her nurturing spirit.
She is survived by her husband, Tim D. Flournoy, and their two sons, Tim L. Flournoy of Leverett's Chapel and Bryant Flournoy, who resides in Kilgore with his wife Amanda. Teresa's legacy also lives on through her grandchildren: Timothy J. Flournoy and his wife Kellie Gore of Lawrence, Kansas; Brentley Flournoy of Kilgore; Jamey Flournoy of Overton; and Dustin Daughterty of Sabine. Her granddaughters include Breanna Flournoy of Kilgore, Hailey Faith Ragon of Clayton, Texas, and Lilly Ragon of Sabine. Additionally, she was a proud great-grandmother to Freya Flournoy of Lawrence, Kansas.
Teresa is also survived by her brother, David Briggs and his wife Debbie of New Boston, Texas, as well as her sisters-in-law, Sharon Rivers Briggs of Keithville, Louisiana, and Debra Flournoy of Tyler. Her brother-in-law, Rusty Flournoy and his wife Lillian of New Boston, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members will also cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Opal Briggs, and her brothers: Donald, Doyle, and Ronnie Briggs.
Visitation will be held on March 4, 2025, at Laird Hill Baptist Church in Laird Hill, Texas, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a Funeral Service following at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jerry Carroll officiating. Her family invites all who knew her to come celebrate her life and the joy she brought to so many.
Teresa Gail Briggs Flournoy will be remembered for her caring nature, her love of music and animals, and the light she brought into the lives of her family and friends. God called her home, and her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
