Services for William “Billy Jack” Johnson, 75 of Kilgore will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Danville in Kilgore with Pastor Freeman Pierce officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday evening at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. He passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024 in Tyler.
Mr. Johnson was born in Big Sandy, Texas to the late Thomas Elbert Johnson and Gussie Mildred Lenord. Billy Jack worked as a mechanic where he worked on cars and worked on heavy equipment. He enjoyed carpentry and was considered a skilled carpenter who built his and Jean’s home. Billy Jack was known as the biggest jokester and prankster in the family. He loved his kids and grandkids fiercely and spending time with them was when he was the happiest. Billy Jack will be missed deeply by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby Kirby and Mary Smalling; brothers, Tommy Johnson and James Johnson; grandchild, Maci Tye Moore and great grandchild, Rylan James Self and mother-in-law, Beatrice Ware Robins.
He leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Jean Ware Johnson of Kilgore; daughters, Julie Ramsey and husband Ben of Hawkins, Tricia Stewart of Kilgore, Cheryl Ceasar of Houston, Becky Johnson of Houston and Billie Jo Yount of Ore City; son, Billy Johnson of Shreveport, Louisiana; sisters, Virgie Hines in Winona, Texas, Alma Johnson of Alba, Texas and Lola Neder and husband Mike of Alba, Texas; brother-in-law, Ricky Ware and wife Robin of Kilgore;11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and loving family members.
