Memorial services for William Perry “Bill” Engledow, 59 of Longview will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2022 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Pastor Tim Coop officiating.
William Perry Engledow, known as Bill, left his earthly home on April 5, 2022. Born in Staten Island, New York, his family moved to back to Texas in 1965 where he attended school in Pine Tree. They then moved to Kilgore in 1972, where he graduated. He and his family lived in Layton, Utah from 1998-2008.
He was the kind of person that lit up any room he was in. He always had a way to get a smile out of anyone. If he were reading this, he’d want us to say, “Go Cowboys!” as he was a huge fan. He also loved the Texas Rangers. Some called him an “energizer bunny” because of his high energy and ability to be a “one-man-band”. It seemed like he could do just about anything. He was a master of woodwork, welding, hunting, and fishing. He loved camping, cooking and being with his family and friends. He loved anything that gave him the ability to be outdoors. The Utah mountains were one of his favorite places to be. He always said that he “missed his era”, that he “should have been born during the Wild Wild West”. This is just another testament to his silly character.
In his prior years, he taught Sunday school and took a lot of pride mentoring in his bow hunting club at his church. He was truly one of a kind. He is an amazing father, caring son and brother, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. Bill held so many unforgettable qualities. He will be deeply missed. With absolute certainty, Bill knew his savior. Heaven gained a bright soul.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Shirley Engledow and his brother-in-law Michael Messner.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers, Wendy Messner, Laura and James Moseley, Chris and Jeanie Engledow, Howard Jr. and Susie Engledow, his daughter Christine Engledow, daughter Jessica and son-in-law Harry Mahfood, daughter Heather and son-in-law Bradley Wright, his grandkids Jake, Kaitlyn, Fara, Elizabeth (Gracie), Laura, Kylea, and his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
